Katie Ellis Counselling

Finding the right counsellor is really important and I hope this information gives you a feel for who I am and how I work.

I am a ‘person-centred’ counsellor. In short, this type of counselling approach means I am here to be alongside you to explore emotions and issues that you bring to the sessions.

We work together to understand them more and see how they fit with your understanding of yourself and the world.

You, the client know yourself best, and with the right supportive relationship you can find an inner peace, move forward and make positive lasting change.

My work addresses a wide range of issues and experiences including low self-esteem, anxiety, stress, grief, sexual abuse, trauma, shame, depression, relationship difficulties and the effects of abuse.

A safe, non-judgemental space

I offer a safe, non-judgemental space where you can feel heard and supported. I’m not here as an expert, to give advice or assess you. With compassion and curiosity we can focus on your situation, work with difficult or painful emotions that you may be experiencing, and gain a deeper understanding into the challenges you are facing.

Professionally, I hold an Advanced Diploma in Counselling accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and validated by Network Counselling. I also have experience of supporting women therapeutically at the charity One 25.

My client work includes Network Counselling and my Private Practice. I undertake regular clinical supervision. I hold full liability insurance and am a registered member of the BACP, working within their ethical framework.

For my own health and wellbeing I find being out in nature deeply satisfying. Be it walking my dog, running, swimming or water sports it is being in the fresh air that helps me to relax and connect with what is important to me. Therefore I also offer ‘walk and talk’ or ‘Outdoor therapy’ as a way working with clients who feel similar to me as not everyone is comfortable in a counselling room, preferring the freedom of being outside. To understand more about this I include this link to the BACP

If mobility is something to factor in I am able to meet for local outdoor sessions at a place you feel that works best for you.
